Applied Spirituality

applying our visionary and healing gifts

Class Description

This course, taught by Char Sundust, focuses on applying our visionary and healing gifts in our one-on-one work, and in our groups and communities. The course invites students to deeply ask, How do I express my identity? How can I use my connection to the Divine as a way to serve this planet and other human beings?

We address the issues of the major transitions and initiations in human life, and learn how to apply our gifts and talents in action to assist others on these major life thresholds. We address soul ruptures and wounds, and how to repair and assist with disenchantment, disempowerment, and disintegration to restore enchantment, empowerment, and the possibility of integration and inspiration.

This curriculum includes ceremonialist training on the facilitation of ceremony for the four major initiations of life: Birth, Death, Weddings/Commitments, and Coming of Age/Leaving Home. We explore rituals from many traditions as we learn to assist others in creating a fulfilling, rich, and authentic ceremony.

We work in-depth with the text The Four-Fold Way by Angeles Arrien, and the year concludes with a wilderness experience guided by Char Sundust’s mother.

Prerequisite: Completion of the first year circle Spiritual Identity is required for all students participating in Applied Spirituality.
